David Chang Q & A

An interesting Q & A with Momofuku/Milk Bar chef David Chang.  Click here to read.  I like what he has to say about farm-to-table restaurants and vegetarians (even though I am one).

BluePrint Cleanse Review - Day 3

Ahhhhhh, so my third and final day on the BluePrint Cleanse.

I woke up and felt the best I had all week.  I had no hunger or weakness, my body just felt normal and use to the cleanse by now.

Royal Wedding Tea

Are you excited for the Royal Wedding?  I am!  My friend picked me up this Harney & Sons Royal Wedding Tea.  If you live in NYC, you can pick up a tin at their store in Soho, or you can purchase it online - here.

BluePrint Cleanse Review - Day 2

I am not going to go into an hour by hour play-by-play like I did yesterday, but I will talk about some "highlights" or "moments" of my second day of the BluePrint Cleanse.

BluePrint Cleanse Review - Day 1

Yesterday I woke up determined to give BluePrint Cleanse a second chance, by doing the Foundation Cleanse.  My first attempt was a little weak, okay majorly weak (click here to read).  So this time around, I purchased The 3-Day Cleanse book by Zoe Sakoutis and Erica Huss, the same women who created BluePrint Cleanse, to get more motivated.  Although, I find this little project expensive, I am finding it worth the money, since I don't own a juicer and would just like to see if I even like the way I feel during and after a cleanse.

Murray's Cheese Class - Honey & Cheese Pairing

After long and relaxing week in Mexico, it is back to reality.  After an overload of beer, margaritas, and beans and rice, starting today I am doing a 3-day BluePrint Cleanse (for real this time).  But before I start that (drinking hot water with lemon as I type), I am trying to forget about all the delicious food I have eaten these past couple weeks.  Two weeks ago, my friends and I went to Murray's Cheese for a honey and cheese pairing class.  Taught by Louise Geller and Let It Bee Honey bee keeper, Christine Lehner, the class went through some amazing cheese and honey combinations.

The Best Thing I Had In My Mouth - The Spotted Pig's Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnudi

I have had one of the best food weekends ever, and it was even better because I got to spend it with my favorite and hilarious blonde buddies.  Excuse me for the lack of pictures, but still trying to sort them out!

It started out at Kati Roll Company - Best kati rolls ever!

Later to Dinosaur BBQ - which made me reconsider being a vegetarian (for a minute).

Salted Caramel Ice Cream for dessert.  A little too soft in my opinion, but with some tweaks could be devine.

Breakfast at Flatbush Farm and Bar.  Fresh pumpkin pancakes yum!

Mast Brothers Chocolate visit.  One bag of cocoa nibs later...

Strawberry glazed doughnuts at The Doughnut Plant.  Worth the wait in line.

Candy samples at Papabubble.

Dinner and drinks at The Spotted Pig.  I could go on for days.  Everything there is perfection.  The ricotta gnudi was seriously heaven.  People closed their eyes and leaned back in the booth as they ate.

Drinks at the secret Little Branch.

Pitstop at the City Bakery.  Chocolate chip cookie and pretzel croissant.

Murray's Cheese class - Cheese and Honey.  Explored some delicious combinations, more on that later.

Beers at Blind Tiger, and then off to the Standard Hotel Biergarten where we had the pretzel croissant and I was finally thanked for forcing them to make the pretzel croissant purchase.

Deep sigh.  It was so hard to not write this in a Russel Brand accent, which I attempted all weekend.  It made the food taste better.  Miss my zestie besties already!

Bad Horse Pizza Review

On Friday night, my friends and I got together for the grand opening of Bad Horse Pizza.  We followed our noses down my five flights of stairs to Bad Horse next door.  It was around 8:00 and the place was very busy, so busy that the waiter seemed annoyed/shocked that we were okay waiting for an hour for pizza.  First off, an hour wait is not that bad for New York, and second off I have been smelling their pizza all week.  I was dying to try it!  Obviously, they were not prepared for Harlem's excitement for a real pizza place.  So we decided that maybe carry out would be a better option.  So a few of us hopped over to Harlem Vintage (my favorite wine shop in Harlem) and got a few bottles of wine, and hung out upstairs at my place.  Well over an hour later and a couple of us went down to check on the pizza situation.  There was a table available at this point, so we all went down to eat.

The Best Thing I Had In My Mouth - Tie Breaker!

This past weekend I had a lot of delicious food, which makes it so hard to decide what was the best thing in my mouth.  So I narrowed it down to three bites:

1.  Bad Horse Pizza's Acropolis House Pie.  Thin crust, fresh basil, some salty toppings, delicious.  I hope to have a review about Bad Horse's opening night out today or tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Bad Horse Pizza Grand Opening Today

It looks like today Bad Horse Pizza is finally opening at 120th and Frederick Douglass Blvd.  Above is the sign I saw outside my apartment last night.  I am definitely bringing some friends along tonight to give it a try.  I hope it doesn't disappoint!  Hope to see a lot of people there!  Click here to check out their menu.
